We have stayed several times at Dona Filipa hotel golf holidays and I was excited to visit it again. What sticks out is the friendly staff. Probably the most helpful and nice people I've encountered in all Europe and US. Hotel is neat. Nice beer Superbock to enjoy in the evening. Few nibble over some pints at the bar after a nice golf, just magnificent. Played golf for four days in San Lorenzo. This one is beautiful course.
Breakfasts at the hotel are good. We went out for lunch and dinner. Seafood restaurants are wonderful in the area. I swam in the outdoor pool in November. Was lovely!
What I can say that if you are looking for a hotel closest to the beach, then this is your choice. This surely let's them escape with whatever else minor drawbacks they have. The nearest hotel is quite far. Vale do Lobo has its own bars, restaurants and nightclub not too far from Dona Filipa. The hotel has been in the process of refurbishment when we were there. We only ate breakfasts, they were ok, not brilliant.
There is just enough sun beds but lots of people run in the morning to reserve them. Pretty annoying I have to say. However, if you really want a bed and an umbrella, try tipping the dude by the pool :) Several times we ate at the beach bar. Quite fast and decent. They served alcohol at the beach which I do not think is allowed.
In conclusion we had a lovely holiday. It's very well located.
